What Is a Prosthodontist?
Prosthodontics is the dental specialty pertaining to the diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation and maintenance of the oral function, comfort, appearance and health of patients with clinical conditions associated with missing or deficient teeth and/or oral and maxillofacial tissues using biocompatible substitutes.
Smileboston’s founder, Steven D. Spitz is a Prosthodontist and due to his specialized training, Dr. Spitz is called upon to work on more complex cases for those who are seeking truly optimal esthetic outcomes. His extensive training, use of lasers, concentration in occlusion, and vast experience gives him a unique understanding in restoring a healthy mouth and beautiful smile.
Dr. Spitz has received an additional three years of advanced training after completing dental school. His specialized training was completed through the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, an ADA-accredited Prosthodontic Certification program. Prosthodontists are trained in state-of-the-art techniques and procedures for treating multiple, diverse, and complex dental conditions, while restoring optimum function and esthetics to one’s smile. A Prosthodontist specializes in the diagnosis, restoration, and replacement of missing or damaged teeth and can restore oral function through the placement of restorations or prostheses (dentures, crowns, implants, etc.). Prosthodontics (also known as dental prosthetics or prosthetic dentistry) is one of the 12 dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA).
Prosthodontic treatment can literally redesign your smile with a number of different services including occlusion, dental implants, dental veneers, inlays/onlays, dental bonding, dentures, dental bridges, and dental crowns.
