Dental Implants

Dental implants benefit anyone who want to replace missing teeth. Whether you are missing one tooth, a full arch, or a whole mouth, dental implants along with a bridge, crown(s) or a denture will give you back your smile, just as you always wanted it. Dental implants with your choice of restoration are the closest thing to your natural teeth and are designed to last a lifetime with proper and conscientious care.

In most other practices, you will find that you will first need to visit with your prosthodontist or general dentist for a treatment plan, then be referred to an oral surgeon or a periodontist to have the implants placed, and then return to your dentist to have your teeth fabricated.

Dr. Spitz is one of a limited number of prosthodontist in New England who has the necessary education and training to surgically place your implants, and to create your crowns, bridges, or dentures. Your entire treatment is completed in one office, with one doctor, start to finish.

We have also found that patients are often told that they are not 'good candidates' for dental implants or that their bone structure would be unable to support dental implants. This is not necessarily true. Most prosthodontists and general dentists are trained to place only one type of implant system. If you do not 'qualify' for that type of implant, it cannot be placed.

Dr. Spitz has the qualifications and experience to work with a variety of dental implant systems, allowing him to find the right one that will work for you, as an individual. After a careful study of your particular dental profile, Dr. Spitz will determine which implant type and treatment process will work best for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a dental implant?

An implant is a man-made material that takes the place of the roots of the teeth on which a crown (single tooth), bridge (multiple connected teeth), or denture is secured. Divided into two basic groups, implants can either be inserted into the bone or placed on top of the bone. The type of implant selected is based on the amount of bone available.

Who is a candidate for dental implants?

Anyone, at any age, is able to be fitted for implants, as long as their health allows. Even if you have been told in the past that you are not eligible for implants, Dr. Spitz has the education, experience and training necessary to work with you to give you the smile you want.

How long can an implant last?

Dental implants can last a lifetime with proper professional maintenance and conscientious home care.

Does insurance cover cosmetic and/or implant procedures?

As always, it depends on your insurance plan, which is a contract between your employer and the insurance company. Fortunately, our office coordinator is an expert at working with insurance claims, and submits insurance forms after each appointment to maximize your allowable benefits.
