Dental Care for Kids

Prevention and specialty care are never more important than in childhood.

Children as young as three years old should be seeing a dentist regularly, and children at any age could need a prosthodontist. Early intervention can put your child on the road to a lifetime of dental health. At Smileboston we work closely with pediatric dentists. We treat children whose teeth haven't grow in completely, those with congenital deformations, and children with sports injuries.

Mouthguards

A mouthguard is an important preventive measure for both children and adults in a variety of situations. They can protect your teeth from nighttime grinding, prevent serious sports injuries and even lessen the severity of snoring. Mouthguards can even be fun! You can choose from a wide range of colors for your child's (or your own) mouthguard.

Frequently Asked Questions

At what age should I be concerned if my child's teeth have not come in, or if there seem to be abnormalities?
Your child should begin seeing a pediatric dentist as soon as teeth begin to appear. You should be concerned if teeth are not visible by age two.

After braces are removed, a permanent bar is usually placed behind the teeth. Are any other options available?
Yes. With minimal bonding behind the teeth we can completely eliminate the bar.

How old does my child have to be to start wearing a mouthguard?
Any child who is three or over who is playing sports should be wearing a mouthguard for protection.

How long does it take to have a mouthguard made?
There are a variety of mouthguards available for both children and adults. Many mouthguards can be made in just a few minutes. Custom mouthguards (for example, colored sports guards) take just two weeks to be made.
